When Is Black Friday 2026? A UK Ecommerce Fulfilment Plan

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November. Cyber Monday follows on Monday 30 November. For a UK ecommerce business, the important planning window extends beyond those four days: stock needs to be ready before the offers start, and the orders, queries and returns continue afterwards.

Black Friday 2026

A good Black Friday plan connects the offer your customer sees with the work required to deliver it. That means agreeing quantities, packaging instructions and realistic delivery promises before increasing advertising spend.

When does Black Friday 2026 start and end?

The calendar date is 27 November. Individual retailers choose their own start and finish times. Some promotions begin earlier, while others run through Cyber Monday or beyond it.

Be specific on your own website. “Black Friday delivery” is less useful than a clear dispatch estimate and an explanation of which orders qualify. If an offer ends at midnight, make sure the discount, advertising and email campaign all use the same time zone.

Choose an offer the warehouse can fulfil

Before choosing a discount, check what changes physically when a customer buys the offer. A straightforward price reduction may leave the packing process unchanged. A free gift, personalised insert or build-your-own bundle can add several decisions to every order.

Write down the offer rules in a format a packing team can use. Does a gift apply once per order or once per qualifying item? What happens if the gift runs out? Can a customer combine offers? Resolve those questions before launch.

Run a test order through the whole process. Check the checkout, order import, SKU allocation, picking instructions, parcel contents and dispatch notification. A successful payment is only the beginning of that test.

Forecast the busiest day, not just the total

A forecast of 3,000 orders over a week is not enough if 1,800 are expected on Friday. Build a daily view, then consider the timing of email sends, advertising pushes and any weekend collections.

Use last year's results as a starting point, adjusting for changes in audience, product range and campaign spend. Separate expected demand from a high-demand scenario so the team knows what would trigger a change of plan.

Our demand forecasting guide explains how to turn sales history into a more useful inventory plan. Forecasts are working assumptions, so update them when actual orders arrive.

Make stock availability believable

Count the products being promoted and reconcile any differences before launch. Check stock in bundles, items reserved for marketplace orders and units awaiting inspection.

Where Shopify, WooCommerce and marketplaces share inventory, agree how quickly stock updates move between systems. Do not assume the quantity displayed in every channel changes at exactly the same moment.

Keep a small, justified buffer where the consequences of overselling outweigh the benefit of selling the final units. The appropriate amount depends on stock accuracy and the speed of synchronisation, not a universal percentage.

Prepare packaging before the rush

Packaging shortages can stop dispatch even when product stock is plentiful. Review cartons, mailers, protective material, labels and branded inserts against the expected order mix.

Check the packed dimensions of promotional bundles. Adding a gift can turn an order into a larger parcel, change its handling requirements or make the usual carton unsuitable. Test the finished pack rather than estimating from the individual products.

If you outsource the work, provide the same packing instructions to marketing, customer service and the fulfilment team. Blue30's pick and pack service is one route for brands that need support with that operational workload.

Keep delivery promises tied to collection capacity

A courier's advertised transit time is not the time between checkout and delivery. Orders still need to be released, picked, packed and handed over.

Confirm collection arrangements and discuss expected parcel volumes before launch. Check the applicable public service notices and your own account terms separately. A public carrier tariff or peak surcharge is not evidence of a particular business's negotiated rate.

If capacity becomes constrained, update the customer-facing estimate promptly. Continuing to advertise an unavailable delivery option usually creates more work later through enquiries, cancellations and complaints.

Keep the platform and warehouse in step

For a Shopify store, check that the order information reaching fulfilment includes the details needed for the promotion. For WooCommerce, test the actual configuration and extensions in use. The platform name alone does not establish how a particular store behaves.

See our Shopify fulfilment and WooCommerce fulfilment pages for the relevant service options.

A short daily conversation between marketing and operations can be valuable during the campaign. Review orders received, orders awaiting dispatch, available stock and any offer changes before making the next push.

What should you review after Black Friday?

Compare the forecast with actual daily demand. Look at dispatch performance, incorrect items, packaging usage and customer contact reasons alongside revenue.

Review returns as they arrive rather than declaring the campaign successful on sales alone. Our ecommerce returns guide can help you structure that work.

Keep the lessons specific. “Start earlier” is difficult to act on; “approve the gift pack and order cartons before the campaign artwork is signed off” is a change you can build into next year's calendar.

Black Friday 2026: quick answers

Is Black Friday a bank holiday in the UK?

No. Do not assume that warehouses, suppliers or carriers operate a special schedule unless they have confirmed one.

Should my promotion run until Cyber Monday?

That is a commercial choice. Check whether stock and dispatch capacity can support the full campaign before extending it.

When should fulfilment planning begin?

Begin before the promotion is committed. If November is approaching, prioritise accurate stock, tested offer rules and realistic delivery promises first.
