Last Christmas Posting Dates 2026: UK Delivery and Order Cut-Offs
Royal Mail has published its last UK posting dates for Christmas 2026. Its current guidance lists 18 December for 2nd Class, 19 December for Tracked 48, 21 December for 1st Class and Tracked 24, and 23 December for Special Delivery Guaranteed.
Those dates are carrier posting dates. They are not automatically the last dates a customer should order from your store. A retailer still needs time to process payment, pick the goods, pack the parcel and hand it over.

Royal Mail's last Christmas posting dates for 2026
The following dates come from Royal Mail's official Christmas posting guidance.
Friday 18 December: 2nd Class and 2nd Class Signed For.
Saturday 19 December: Royal Mail Tracked 48.
Monday 21 December: 1st Class, 1st Class Signed For and Royal Mail Tracked 24.
Wednesday 23 December: Special Delivery Guaranteed.
Royal Mail advises posting early and says the dates are subject to change. Do not describe every listed service as guaranteeing arrival before Christmas. Check the conditions of the particular service being purchased.
What about Parcelforce, DPD, UPS and Evri?
The same Royal Mail guidance lists Monday 21 December for Parcelforce express48 and express48large, and Tuesday 22 December for express10, expressAM and express24.
This guide does not assign a Christmas 2026 cut-off to DPD, UPS or Evri without a verified service-specific notice. Check the actual service, destination and collection arrangement rather than applying another carrier's deadline.
A carrier may also distinguish collection from drop-off and standard services from remote-area services. An account's agreed collection arrangement matters as much as the date printed on a general public page.
How to set your store's Christmas order cut-off
Work backwards from the carrier handover you can actually make. Allow for payment checks, picking, packing, the order queue and a sensible contingency.
Consider an illustrative example: a business needs one working day to process an order before a confirmed collection. It cannot automatically advertise the carrier's final posting date as its final ordering date. Orders arriving after its processing cut-off may miss that collection.
Use the same calculation for each delivery option. Standard, express, personalised and international orders may need different deadlines.
If you outsource fulfilment, agree the timings with the provider before publishing them. Blue30's pick and pack service explains the work that takes place between an order arriving and a parcel being dispatched.
Remember that 19 December is a Saturday
A published Saturday posting date is only useful if your chosen handover route operates that day. Confirm the actual collection or drop-off arrangement.
Do not assume a Friday warehouse schedule extends into Saturday. Check when orders must reach fulfilment, whether all products are eligible for the same processing time and who will resolve exceptions.
This is particularly important for gift sets and personalised orders. An order may be easy to accept online but take longer to assemble than a standard single-item parcel.
Give international orders their own plan
Do not apply UK inland dates to overseas destinations. Transit times, customs processes, service availability and local holidays vary.
Royal Mail's Christmas page directs customers to country guidance for international delivery aims and recommends sending early. Check the destination and service before publishing an overseas order deadline.
Keep international messaging separate from a “UK delivery before Christmas” banner. A customer should not need to discover an exception only after reaching checkout.
Put the same dates everywhere customers look
Check product pages, delivery information, checkout messages, confirmation emails and customer-service templates. A prominent banner is not enough if the checkout still offers an incompatible delivery estimate.
State the date, time and applicable service clearly. Explain exclusions such as made-to-order goods or destinations that need a separate timetable.
Where you use Shopify fulfilment or WooCommerce fulfilment, test a sample order after changing the messaging. Make sure the service selected online is the service passed to the warehouse.
Plan what happens after the deadline
Decide which options remain available when Christmas delivery can no longer be offered confidently. You may continue accepting orders with a later estimate, remove an express option or offer a digital alternative where relevant.
Keep the wording factual. Avoid leaving a Christmas-arrival promise live because changing it might reduce conversion. The resulting disappointment can cost more in enquiries and cancellations.
Prepare for returns as well. Our ecommerce returns guide covers the operational process of receiving, inspecting and recording returned stock.
Christmas posting questions
Is the last posting date the same as the last ordering date?
No. The order deadline must allow enough time for processing and carrier handover.
Does Tracked 24 mean every order placed on 21 December will arrive for Christmas?
No. The parcel must reach the appropriate handover in time, and the service's delivery conditions still apply.
Can I reuse the 2025 dates?
No. Use the current year's official carrier notice and your confirmed collection arrangements.
